WELCOME TO THE COLUMBIA BIOBLITZ!

The Conservation Biology Program at the University of Missouri invites you to participate in Columbia's fifth BioBlitz on September 19th and 20th, 2008. This event encourages YOU to explore the diversity of life in Columbia at all hours of the day.

WHAT IS A BIOBLITZ?

A BioBlitz is a 24 hour race against time designed to explore and record as many species as possible in a defined area. The BioBlitz aims to increase the public's awareness of the variety of life in their neighborhood and how these organisms improve the quality of their lives.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Everybody! You can register online to participate in Columbia's third BioBlitz starting August 1. Registration is FREE, however children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants can sign up for one or more educational walks to explore local birds, bats, insects, plants and more! Participants will also be involved in counting the number of species identified during this 24-hour period. See the events page for a complete description of walks lead by local experts.

HOW CAN YOU FIND THE RESULTS OF THE SURVEY?

All registered participants are welcome to attend a closing ceremonies ice cream social in Columbia. After the event, a list of species will be posted on this website.
